Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) Online takes place 10 years after the events of its predecessor—Jake has become an elected leader on Pandora and is focused on protecting it from those who would mine its resources without respecting its people or culture (sound familiar?). Meanwhile, Neytiri's daughter has gone off on her own adventure while learning about what makes her different from other humans…and finds herself right smack dab in danger!
Cameron told The Washington Post that he believes people want to watch longer films on their phones and laptops at home instead of going out to theaters and watching shorter movies there (although he does not seem convinced that this trend will last forever). He also said he hopes to use technology similar to Dolby Atmos sound system for surround sound effects so viewers can hear things like rain falling from above or footsteps coming from behind them when watching these films at home (or wherever else they choose).
